MOODY GARDENS OPENS FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS NIGHTLY BEGINNING DEC. 13
Largest Gulf Coast lighting event will be open Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day
Galveston Island, TX (Dec. 1, 2011) — Since opening day Nov. 10, large crowds from across the region have visited Moody Gardens to experience the magic of the tenth annual Festival of Lights. The holidays will be even brighter when the Festival opens nightly Dec. 13 through Jan. 5, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s.
Festival of Lights is the Gulf Coast’s largest holiday lighting event. It includes a mile-long trail of more than a million lights and 100 sound-enhanced animated displays sparkling over the beautiful Galveston Bay, as well as an outdoor ice skating rink and the new Arctic Snow Tubing Slide. Photos with Santa are also available nightly. In addition to the Festival, guests can catch holiday-themed films in the Moody Gardens 3D Theater, Ridefilm Theater and 4D Special FX Theater, or check out the holiday show “A Magical Christmas” Dinner and Show at the Moody Gardens Convention Center from Dec. 20 – Dec. 27.
Start a new holiday tradition and come dine at the Garden Restaurant on Christmas Day as Chef Andres Castaneda prepares an extravagant holiday buffet.
Admission to Festival of Lights is $6.95. Tickets to select additional attractions, such as the 3D holiday films, Polar Express 4D, Ridefilm, Discovery Museum, Aquarium Pyramid, Colonel Paddlewheel Boat, and skate rental for the outdoor ice rink can be purchased for $6 each when accompanied by a Festival of Lights ticket. “A Magical Christmas” tickets (including dinner) are $49 for adults and $29 for children 12 years and younger. Hotel packages are also available.
On Fridays, 2-for-1 admission to Festival of Lights is available to guests who donate a non-perishable food item for “Food Drive Fridays.” The program benefits Galveston County and Houston food banks.
