Backyard Habitat

In an effort to promote conservation at home, Moody Gardens® has created a garden and conservation station to provide information on composting, regional gardening, and backyard wildlife habitat that show how attract birds, butterflies and hummingbirds into your own backyard using all native Texas plants.

Planting regionally native plants means less watering and fertilizing. This style of gardening conserves water and helps lower the number of chemicals that accumulate in yard run-off. The Garden was inspired by a Wildscaping program offered through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and a Backyard Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation.
