The Cashier/Sales Clerk will provide timely and accurate processing of customer transactions in the Attractions Gift Shops at Moody Gardens, while maintaining effective and efficient accounting of cash and credit receipts. Also provides assistance to the Store Manager, Assistant Manager and other Sales Associates as required for proper functioning of their positions. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Complete cashier training if operating a cash register •Ring purchases, collect payment, make change and complete sales •Promote sale of merchandise and special sale items •Assist in locating and selecting merchandise and ensuring excellent customer service •Sort, pull, display, and arrange merchandise as instructed by manager(s) •Transfer store shipments to appropriate departments, assist in stock rotation and maintaining racks, shelves and other displays in a presentable manner •Assist manager(s) in other duties related to store maintenance and cleanliness •Demonstrate consistent positive behavior with all internal and external customer •Demonstrate effective communication skills, ensuring correct information goes only to the appropriate person •Clean and organize assigned work area at the end of individual shift •Attend trainings/meetings as scheduled •Know and follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and ongoing training •Work as scheduled, being flexible when needed •Report any accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions to the store manager(s) and assist with completing appropriate reports •Maintain a positive, team-oriented relationship with peers and supervisors •Present positive public image for the betterment of Moody Gardens •Follow all safety policies and procedures •Remain in accordance with the employee dress code •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •High School diploma or equivalent preferred •Prior Customer Service experience preferred REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be reliable and responsible •Ability to exhibit maturity in the workplace and have a cooperative attitude •Basic math skills •Must be willing to work as part of a team PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Ability to stand for long periods of time •Ability to perform tasks that require stooping, squatting, bending and twisting •Ability to safely lift 50+ pounds Must be able to provide GREAT customer service. 1+ years of retail experience preferred but not required.
