Notes JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Venue Manager, the Santa Claus Performer is responsible for interacting with and entertaining guests while performing both as the iconic character and performing and interacting with guests during the Festival Of Lights celebration. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Perform and remain in character as Santa Claus while interacting with both adults and Children in a family friendly manner. •Be extremely familiar with the materials concerning the persona surrounding the history and folklore of Santa Claus. •Encourage and sustain a positive family-friendly guest experience for our guests •Maintain a consistently outstanding, electrifying, and quality performance regardless of audience size or participation •Constructively apply performance notes given by Supervising Manager pursuant to standards set forth during training period including mannerisms pursuant to the character, the appearance and jovialness needed to create a positive guest interaction for both adults and children, and answering children’s questions effectively. •Improvisation needs to be minimal and along the lines of the folklore surrounding the character. •During slow times must be capable of walking out of “Santa’s Workshop” and inviting guests on the trail to visit with you and take a picture in the workshop. •Report any costume concerns promptly to Venue Manager. •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •Theatrical, performance, and entertainment experience and skills are preferred REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be reliable and responsible •Public speaking and improvisational skills are required •Candidates must have the aptitude and attentiveness required to perform and interact with Children one on one as well as with a Family unit. •Position requires frequent contact with co-workers and continuous direct contact with guests. •Must be charismatic, energetic, outgoing, and family-friendly •Must be dependable, have the ability to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan and be well organized and have excellent oral and written skills •Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative to solve problems quickly PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •excellent hearing and speech are required •Must be able to maintain character while wearing a costume(including wig and false beard) •Frequent standing, walking, stepping up/down, bending, and reaching is required •Must be able to sit for an extended period of time •Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds even while in a seated position •Must be capable of climbing ladders and stairs •Routine exposure to bright lights, loud noises, and heat can be expected.
