Under the supervision of the Lead Performer and Guest Services Manager, the Ice Land Host is responsible for greeting and entertaining guests while hosting the pre-show introduction and video prior to the guests entering the Ice Land Caribbean Christmas attraction during the Festival of Lights. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Memorize a script and Ice Land Fun Facts to share with audience in an engaging and exciting manner through both one-on-one and group interaction. •Encourage and sustain a positive family-friendly guest experience for our guests. •Maintain a consistently outstanding, electrifying, and quality performance regardless of audience size or participation. •Constructively apply performance notes given by Lead Performer/Venue Manager. Notes may critique overall performance including audience interaction, improvisational skills, enthusiasm, information dissemination, etc. •May occasionally be called upon to lead special 30 minute to 1 hour VIP Tours of the Caribbean Christmas Ice Land attraction. •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •Public speaking and improvisational skills are a must. Theatrical, performance, and entertainment experience and skills are a plus. Position requires continuous visual and mental attention while performing and entertaining guests. Candidates must have the aptitude and attentiveness required to perform with an open microphone, as well as be able to start a video. Position requires frequent contact with co-workers and continuous direct contact with guests. •Individual should be a charismatic, energetic, outgoing, and family-friendly person that is able to interact with guests in an engaging and exciting manner with a partially scripted, partially improvised interactive introduction to Ice Land. This is a performance based position, as you will be performing before a large audience upwards of 250 individuals. REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be reliable and responsible •Individual should be dependable, exercise sound judgment, be able to plan and be well organized, have excellent oral and written skills, work well under pressure, and able to take the initiative to solve problems quickly, in addition to being flexible, cooperative, team-friendly, punctual, and discrete with proprietary information not limited to the technology, equipment, and training. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Candidates must be able to work weekends, holidays, and/or evenings. Candidates are expected to wear the assigned uniform, set and maintain an approved schedule, and perform miscellaneous duties as required. •Frequent standing, walking, stepping up/down, bending, and reaching is required. Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and climbing ladders and stairs, in addition to working safely around expensive equipment. Routine exposure to bright lights, loud noises, and heat/cold can be expected.
