|Assistant Volunteer Coordinator|
The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator will assist with the supervision, training and evaluation of adult volunteers and also provide administrative support for Volunteer Services. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Manage the adult volunteer program, including recruiting, interviewing, scheduling, training and supervising •Coordinate training and orientation sessions for all volunteers •Assist with coordinating and attending continuing education classes for all volunteers •Maintain volunteer database and all files •Assist with the intern program as needed •Assist with annual Volunteer Banquet and any other department sponsored event through planning and implementation •Assist with the planning and implementation of Hope Therapy events •Assist with the development and updating of all volunteer training materials •Create a quarterly newsletter for volunteers •Create and maintain information board for volunteers •Assist with volunteer operations in the absence of the Volunteer Coordinator •Process mail, maintain reports, travel requests and other necessary paperwork •Travel to schools, area businesses, conferences and community events as assigned •Attend scheduled meetings •Responsible for enforcing Moody Gardens’ Volunteer policies and procedures; documenting incidents and disciplinary actions as needed •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •High School diploma or equivalent •College degree and/or work experience in related field preferred REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be creative, reliable, enthusiastic and responsible •Strong management and organizational skills •Experience working with adult volunteers preferred •Proficiency with computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databases •Strong written, communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills •Excellent customer service skills •Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines •Professional appearance •Ability to work around and with animals •Valid Texas state drivers license •Flexibility with scheduling, including weekends PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Sufficient endurance to spend long periods of time (25% or more) in a stationary position conducting programs or staffing exhibit areas •Sufficient mobility to spend long periods of time (25% or more) traversing on tour or conducting programs •Ability to tolerate multiple climate change exposures throughout work habitat environments which include high humidity, heat, cold and outdoor conditions on a repetitive rotating schedule •Ability to maneuver up to 50 pounds Interested applicants can fax application and/or resume to 409.683.4930 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
