Senior Attractions Sales Manager
Department Sales
The Senior Group Sales Manager is responsible for the development and solicitation of business from all markets to ensure the necessary advance bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation for the attractions. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Direct the solicitation efforts of the group sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing commitments to groups tours and rental spaces •Administer the staffing, training, and performance reviews for the Group Sales Department •Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Moody Gardens’ standards of performance are met •Give guidelines and counsel staff towards improvement •Compiles and directs the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Group Sales Department to include, but not limited to, the annual and monthly forecast, booking report, and sales meeting minutes •Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets •Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients •Meet with and entertain clients •Organize and attend scheduled Sales Department meetings, or any other related meetings •Conduct property site inspections with potential customer •Communicate with other departments regarding specific needs and setups for group bookings. •Travel to industry-related trade shows and Chamber of Commerce throughout the area •Input and retrieve information from computer systems for file maintenance, correspondence, and preparation for forecasts budget •Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •High School diploma or equivalent required •College degree preferred •Minimum of five years sales experience required •Prior experience in a similar attraction outlet preferred REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be reliable and responsible •Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends, and economic factors •Extensive skills in development and delivery of sales presentations •Ability to access understand, and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system •Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts •Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing •Additional language skills preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Ability to stand and move throughout the property while continuously performing essential job functions Interested applicants can fax application and/or resume to 409.683.4930 or email to employment@moodygardens.org We appreciate all applicants for their interest, however, due to the large volume of applications and/or resumes received, only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
