Assistant Golf Professional
Department Golf Course
The Assistant Golf Professional will assist with the management of daily golf operations including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising golf staff, assisting with merchandising functions, managing tournament, teaching lessons, and providing other professional services to ensure and exceptional golf experience. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Supervise and manage the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Head Golf Professional •Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons •Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and fee is collected in coordination with the starter •Manage the total operation of the practice facility •Provide golf instruction and clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures •Supervise, schedule and train golf shop personnel as directed by the head professional. •Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion and sales of merchandise •Manage the club repair business •Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times •Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services •Manage the handicap program •Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf course operations •Assist in managing tournaments and outings •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •College degree preferred •Prior golf experience required •Class “A” PGA member in good standing or apprentice working towards membership REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be reliable and responsible •Must have a genuine caring service coupled with a high level of professionalism and energy •Exceptional customer service skills, a wonderful, warm personality, very organized, and a detail oriented team player also a must •Must have the ability to successfully multi-task with project deadlines and sales activities •Must possess extraordinary leadership skills along with a proven track record in sales, with strong closing skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Ability to stand for long periods of time •Ability to lift 20-50 pounds •Ability to work outside in all weather conditions- often high heat Must have a positive attitude and be an excellent team player.
