JOB SUMMARY: The Bldg. Mechanic maintains public space and back of the house areas to be in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to; carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering, and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained facility. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Inspect public spaces, and back of the house areas to repair, touch up, or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous repairs. •This job requires the individual to visually inspect and detect items needing repair and requires a considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades •Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience is used frequently on the job •Performing duties requires experience in using basic hand and power tools •Keeping detailed records in English is required for logs and inspection sheets •Maintain inventory of supplies as needed to perform all job functions •Report major repairs and items which cannot be repaired to the manager for further action •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •Basic experience in maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry required •Any combination of experience, or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities •High school diploma preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must be reliable and responsible •Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry. •Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of facility •Skill in the use of related tools PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling •Ability to push and pull objects or materials weighing up to 100 lbs •Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 feet for extended periods of time, with the ability to reach, often times overhead •Ability to grasp, lift, or carry items weighing up to 50 lbs, occasionally waist high Disclaimer The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
