Education - Attractions
The Adult Volunteer Specialist will assist with the supervision, training and evaluation of adult volunteers and provide administrative support for Volunteer Services.
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.  The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. 
•Manage the Adult Volunteer Program, including recruiting, interviewing, scheduling, training and supervising
•Actively recruit, interview and evaluate adult volunteers
•Conduct training and orientation sessions for adult volunteers
•Develop and continuously update adult volunteer training materials with the collaboration of the Volunteer Program Specialist and Education Curator 
•Create and manage adult volunteer monthly, weekly and daily schedules 
•Develop, coordinate and attend continuing education classes for adult volunteers
•Maintain adult volunteer database (Volgistics) and all files; accurate reporting on volunteer hours 
•Maintain adult volunteer supplies, uniforms and program items
•Maintain and submit updates for adult information on website 
•Maintain information board for adult volunteers 
•Assist with the development of the quarterly newsletter for volunteers 
•Communicate with other departments to assess their adult volunteer needs 
•Actively utilize adult volunteers as assistants for annual events and special programs 
•Assist with the intern program as needed
•Assist with the youth volunteer program as needed
•Assist with department sponsored events through planning and implementation
•Assist with the planning and implementation of Hope Therapy events
•Collaborate with the Naturalist Supervisor, Education Specialists or Education Curator with education adult volunteers on interpretive station schedules and special programs
•Travel to schools, area businesses, conferences and community events as assigned
•Attend scheduled meetings 
•Process mail, maintain reports, travel requests and other necessary paperwork
•Responsible for adult volunteer participants and enforcing Moody Gardens’ policies and procedures; documenting incidents and disciplinary actions as needed with oversite from the Education Curator	
•Provide positive guest experiences by initiating interactions and answering questions
•Staff interpretive stations in the Rainforest Pyramid, Aquarium Pyramid, Discovery Museum and other education programs or tours as assigned
•May be cleared to work with Ambassador Animals and attend review courses as needed
•Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
•High School diploma or equivalent required
•College degree or work experience in related field preferred
•Prior supervisory, youth program and event planning experience preferred
•Must be reliable and responsible
•Strong supervisory and leadership skills
•Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
•Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills
•Excellent customer service skills
•Proficiency with computer word processing, spreadsheets and databases
•Ability to retain large quantities of information
•Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines
•Flexibility with scheduling; including weekends & holidays

•Ability to work around and with animals
•Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
•Sufficient endurance to spend long periods of time (50% or more) in a stationary position conducting programs or staffing exhibit areas
•Sufficient mobility to spend long periods of time (50% or more) traversing on tour or conducting programs
•Ability to tolerate multiple climate change exposures throughout work habitat environments which include high humidity, heat, cold and outdoor conditions on a repetitive rotating schedule
•Ability to maneuver up to 50 pounds
