Job Detail
Dive Officer
Life Science Exhibits Attracctions
Job responsibilities include development and implementation of all S.C.U.B.A. related operations.
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. 
Dive Operations
•Development and implementation of Dive Safety Manual
•Establishment of dive protocols for all exhibits
•Maintain safety standards and controls on all aspects of facility diving
•Training and checkout of staff and volunteer divers
•Keep Animal Husbandry Manager, Assistant Curators and exhibit personnel informed of animal health issues and behaviors observed in the course of dive operations
•Provide Animal Husbandry Manager with updates and changes to Dive Safety Manual and Exhibit Protocols
•Inform Animal Husbandry Manager about exhibit maintenance issues that need to be addressed and provide progress reports regarding repairs
•Provide Animal Husbandry Manager with annual reports regarding diver service hours and operations
•Maintain professional, courteous attitude towards visitors, volunteers, community and staff
Facility Maintenance
•Maintain work area in a professional manner
•Maintain all dive equipment to assure equipment is safe for dive operations
•Maintain air compressor to assure safe tank fills for dive operations
•Conduct routine air quality testing
•Perform and oversee specialized exhibit maintenance and repair
•Report supply needs to Animal Husbandry Manager
•Other equipment maintenance as required
•Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
•College Degree preferred
•Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) or greater certification
•1500 of hours of dive time
•Equipment repair technician certifications preferred
•Must be reliable and responsible
•Be available to work as required
•Be organized and self-motivated
•Ability to work around animals that may sting, bite, or pose other risks
•Must be available for overtime, both emergency and non-emergency situations
•Ability to work in water, both man-made and natural
•Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
•Ability to work in all weather extremes
•Ability to remain on feet standing or walking in a wet environment for long periods of time 
•Occasional confined space water entry required
