Public Relations Coordinator
Marketing Attractions
The Public Relations Coordinator assist in the development of internal and external communications program, special events, and marketing programs for Moody Gardens. 
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.  The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. 
•Coordinate with the Marketing and Public Relations Manager the planning and implementation of the marketing plan for Moody Gardens
•Develop publicity campaigns for ongoing attractions, events, and education programs at Moody Gardens
•Pitch story ideas to the news media
•Prepare and disseminate all press materials and alerts to local, state, and national mass and trade media
•Conduct interviews with the media as needed
•Participate in regional media tours
•Updates website and social media sites as needed
•Prepares and disseminates information to community and professional organizations, educational institutions, and other external audiences as appropriate
•Develop support materials, displays, and advertising specialty materials as required
•Maintain media and marketing research database
•Track publicity and advertising value for all print and media coverage
•Coordinate volunteers to assist with special events and projects
•Coordinate special events and activities for the public and media as needed
•Serve as support liaison for outside agency services as needed
•Catalog and archive all promotional and marketing materials 
•Any other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
•College Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field required
•Minimum of 2 years prior required
•Must be personable, reliable, and responsible
•Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with knowledge of journalism writing and editing techniques
•Strong background in public speaking
•Proficient use of computers required
•Ability to sit for extended periods of time 
•Good hand flexibility and finger dexterity to work a computer and keyboard
