Dive into the oceans of the world in a 1.5-million-gallon aquarium teeming with creatures from tuxedo-clad penguins to seals, stingrays, sharks and more.

As a multi-phased renovation is underway at the Aquarium Pyramid®. As we continue with this project, Moody Gardens guests can look forward to a fun and awe-inspiring experience wonderfully complemented with conservation messages that underscore the vital importance of the oceans. New exhibits will not only inspire visitor interest and empathy, but also connect visitors to specific ocean habitats. Visitors will travel from the Gulf of Mexico to the South Atlantic, the South Pacific, the North Pacific, and the Caribbean. Each ocean exhibit highlights different marine sanctuaries and different aspects of our relationship to the seas. Upon completion, there will be a variety of new exhibits and surprises, including the addition of jellyfish and tropical penguins.

Did you know the human skeletal system consists of 206 bones?  How do your joints work? What is Osteoporosis? Learn more about the bones that keep us and animals moving through this 6,000 sq. ft. exhibition of exciting and interactive activities. It examines bone biology, human and animal bone specimens, and how bones are a part of cultures all over the world. Both adults and children can learn about the vital role diet and exercise play in keeping our bones healthy. Festival of Lights

NOVEMBER 12, 2016 – JANUARY 8, 2017

6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

As the largest holiday lighting events on the Gulf Coast, the Festival of Lights receives over 125,000 visitors, many of whom have made the festival their own holiday tradition. In addition to over 100 sound-enhanced animated light displays and nightly live entertainment, visitors can strap on a pair of skates and glide across the ice at the area’s only Outdoor Ice Skating Rink. Guests can slide into a thrilling experience with the 100-foot, Texas-sized Arctic Slide. Indoors, guests can take pictures with Santa or enjoy a variety of holiday-themed films at the MG3D Theater and 4D Special FX Theater. More information coming soon!

ICE LAND: Ice Sculptures

November 12, 2016- January 8, 2017

Moody Gardens presents ICE LAND: Ice Sculptures, a magnificent exhibit featuring large ice sculptures that offers a frosty complement to the Festival of Lights. A skilled team of 35 professional ice carvers will take two million pounds of ice and transform them into majestic displays ranging from holiday-themed sculptures to your favorite animals and characters. Chilled and held at a temperature of 9 degrees, you can witness these works of art as Galveston makes its holiday transition into a Winter Wonder Island. More information coming soon!
