Server Assistants are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. Provide friendly, attentive and timely service to create an exceptional dining experience at Moody Gardens. At all times assistants are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Maintain a Guest focus while performing duties •Assume 100% responsibility for quality guest experience •Prepare tables by laying out napkins and utensils and making sure the condiments are refilled •Pre-bus tables and perform all other preparation tasks •Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, replenishing utensils and refilling glasses •Answer questions about our food and beverages and other restaurant functions and services •Perform side work during each shift as required by service stations assignment •Complete opening and closing checklists •Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service •Respond promptly and courteously to any requests •Provide proactive beverage and bread refills •Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, and process through the POS system •Return change to the guest quickly •Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers before they ask •Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return •Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement •Notify manager-on-duty any time a guest is not 100% satisfied with their experience •Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •No prior experience required •Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work REQUIRED SKILLS: •Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members •Must be reliable and responsible •Ability to exhibit maturity in the workplace and have a cooperative attitude •Must be able to handle money and operate point-of-sale system •Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed •Ability to work in a fast paced restaurant environment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Ability to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 25 pounds •Ability to grasp, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds •Ability to remain on feet standing and walking for entire shift •Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
