Free Fireworks, Cool Off at Palm Beach, Air, Car, and Boat Show, Hotel Packages, and More

Galveston, Texas— Summer is almost here and Moody Gardens is offering new attractions and experiences to provide an enjoyable day trip or extended vacation at one of the most popular tourist destinations in Texas.

Guests are invited to cool off and enjoy an unforgettable summer on Galveston Island. A season full of events and activities is planned from May to August at Moody Gardens including an Air, Car, and Boat Show, Galveston Wine Festival, and more:

Palm Beach is open daily from May 27 – August 13:

Cool off and sink your toes in the white sand, enjoy the Lazy River, Wave Pool, Tower Slides, and more daily all summer long. Other attractions include the Aquarium Adventure play area or interactive water games. The splash pad automated aquatic water feature offers interactive dump buckets, spray arches, and fountains for a day of fun at the beach. You can also rent a cabana or lounger for maximum relaxation. Individual Tickets, Season Passes, and Annual Pass Plus Memberships are available. Children ages 3 and younger can enter Palm Beach for free.

Free Fireworks Every Saturday Night from June 17 – August 5:

Celebrate summertime with free fireworks every Saturday night from June 17 – Aug. 5 at 9:15 p.m. The Moody Gardens pyramids are the perfect backdrop for all ages to enjoy.

Beats on the Beach: Every Saturday from June 17 – August 5:

On Saturday nights, guests can enjoy Beats on the Beach, June 17 – Aug. 5. Join the fun at Palm Beach from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. as a DJ and bands bring a variety of music to Galveston’s only white sand beach. The family-friendly event is great for all ages giving guests the opportunity to get up and dance or relax along the Lazy River with a wonderful gulf breeze and beautiful water view. The Shoreline Grill is open with a great menu and cocktails from the bar. Individual admission tickets are available or it is included with a Value Pass.

Dinner Cruises on the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat: June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22, August 5, and August 19:

Enjoy beautiful views of Offatts Bayou, plus a dinner buffet and cash bar with dinner cruises aboard the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat. Themed cruise menus including an Aloha, BBQ, and French buffets are a few that guests will enjoy this summer.

Moody Gardens Air, Car and Boat Show, August 11 – 13:

A big weekend that will thrill visitors by land, and air. Daytime and evening performances will loop, roll and scream through the air with this unique air show with daredevil pilots sending off fireworks trails to light up the night sky. A splashy and spectacular Boat Show will showcase a sensational array of boats to appreciate and perhaps find their dream boat at the Moody Gardens. And, it’s a car lover’s dream at the Moody Gardens Convention Center as the hall is filled with rows of classic vehicles and the stories that accompany them. Hotel packages are available.

Galveston Wine Festival, Sept. 1 – 4:

Cheers to a wonderful weekend of wine, food, live entertainment, fireworks, and fun on Galveston Island. This event features a Seven on Seven Seafood Extravaganza with food and wine from seven chefs and seven regions. The Penguins and Pinot: Grand Tasting at the Aquarium Pyramid takes guests on a delightful tour through the world’s vineyards known for bountiful and superb wine sampling as creative chefs provide the most delectable small bite pairings and artwork created by the Moody Gardens penguins. A Freedom Stories and Bourbon Tasting is a salute to the military with a special speakers list of honorary veterans sharing their stories paired with a wonderful Bourbon Tasting.

Hotel and Spa Packages

Adjacent to the attractions sits the spectacular Moody Gardens Hotel. Room packages are available in addition to a listing of special Kid’s Crew activities taking place for summer. 

Golf Course Specials

With its stunning views, green fairways and gulf breeze, Moody Gardens Golf Course has become one of the most popular public golf courses in Texas, ranked as the No. 4 course in the Lone Star State, according to a recent ranking by Golf Advisor. Players can tee off on the beautiful 18-hole golf course featuring five tee boxes for players of all levels and finish off with food and drinks overlooking the range at the Pelican Grille.
