Moody Gardens Kicks off Christmas in July with debut of new ICE LAND theme

MOODY GARDENS KICKS OFF CHRISTMAS IN JULY WITH DEBUT OF NEW ICE LAND THEME

Cool off with an exclusive look into the Gulf Coast’s most enchanting holiday destination

Galveston, Texas (June 27, 2019) – Christmas comes early as Moody Gardens officially revealed its plans for the 2019 holiday season on Thursday, June 27.

Guests will get to explore destinations across the globe with an all-new Ice Land theme: Christmas Around the World. 

Explore the Alamo, visit the Eiffel Tower, journey across the Great Wall of China and of course, meet Santa– all hand-carved out of two million pounds of ice in a 17,000 square foot chilled exhibit space.

Along with Ice Land’s new theme reveal, Moody Gardens hosted a fruit cake eating competition with winners taking home prize packages, including tickets to return for the holiday season.

The Christmas in July activities will continue on July 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with an Ice Block challenge. Moody Gardens is daring guests to beat the heat and the clock by seeing how long they can sit on a solid block of ice. Every Saturday in July at Palm Beach guests can take the Polar Plunge and have an icy cold plummet in a dunk tank guaranteed to make the summer heat feel like a frosty feat.

Thursdays in July will be designated as Food Drive Thursdays. Guests who bring a non-perishable food item to Moody Gardens will receive two-for-one admission to the MG 3D Theater. The summer food drive observes the holiday spirit of giving. The food drive program benefits Galveston County Food Bank.

Ice Land: Christmas Around the World opens Nov. 16, 2019-Jan. 12, 2020 and is just one of eight holiday attractions, all offered at Moody Gardens as a part of the newly-named Holiday in the Gardens season long event. Other holiday attractions include Festival of Lights, Cirque Joyeux Dinner & Show, Rudolph 4D, 3D films, ice skating, an Arctic Slide and train rides, plus live entertainment and great food.

Go behind the scenes of Ice Land: Christmas Around the World with the Ice Carver VIP Experience. This exclusive tour gives guests a chance to see the artists at work as they create these magnificent, towering ice sculptures, resulting in a truly enchanting holiday experience.

This skilled team of master ice carvers from Harbin, China will transport guests around the globe for a truly unique experience, including a giant ice slide.

And, don’t miss out on Shivers Ice Bar, featuring ultra-cool holiday spirits.
