Now in its 11th year, this beloved holiday tradition transforms two million pounds of ice into an awe-inspiring display of artistry, color, and holiday cheer. Bundle up—because the temperature inside is kept at a brisk 9 degrees to preserve the magic!
The ICE LAND tent is an impressive 28,000 square feet, with 18,000 square feet dedicated to the dazzling ice exhibit and 10,000 square feet reserved for industrial-size chillers, a festive gift shop, and plenty of hot chocolate to warm you up after your adventure.
That’s right—over 7,000 blocks of ice weighing 300 pounds each are transported from the Penguin Ice facility in College Station, one of the few facilities in the country capable of producing the massive, crystal-clear ice blocks preferred by master ice sculptors. Once delivered, these blocks are transformed into breathtaking holiday scenes that will leave guests in awe.
A talented team of 30 carvers from Harbin, China—home to the world-famous Harbin Snow & Ice Festival—spend 37 days sculpting the ice into towering masterpieces, some reaching 30 feet tall. These artists regularly compete at the world’s top ice festivals, and the intricate sculptures they create for Moody Gardens are among the most unique displays in the U.S.
Now in its 11th year, Moody Gardens ICE LAND has grown into the largest holiday ice sculpture attraction in the United States. Inside the expansive 28,000-square-foot tent, guests can explore a dazzling winter wonderland featuring breathtaking ice sculptures, festive displays, and plenty of space to enjoy hot cocoa and shop for holiday treasures. This incredible frozen world is designed to immerse visitors in the holiday spirit and create unforgettable memories for the entire family.
