Moody Gardens’ Discovery Pyramid is a hands-on science destination featuring interactive exhibits on everything from renewable energy, space science, robotics, the human body, and more. With rotating exhibitions, live demonstrations, and educational programming, it invites visitors of all ages to explore, experiment, and see science in action.

Galveston Children's Museum
The Galveston Children's Museum, a fixture of Island life since 2014, is moving into the upstairs exhibit gallery of the Discovery Pyramid. The reimagined museum is being built specifically for this space and features hands-on STEM exhibits, imaginative play areas, and maker activities inspired by Galveston's coastal heritage, maritime history, and arts community. Families can expect the exhibits they already know and love plus new interactive experiences created with local artists, makers, and educators.
Upstairs Exhibit Gallery Closed Until November
Skeletown closed on Sept. 7, 2026, and the upstairs rotating exhibit gallery is closed while the space is prepared for the Galveston Children's Museum. Downstairs, the Audience Recognition Theater stays open with regular showtimes for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Step aboard 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: An Interactive Adventure in Moody Gardens’ Discovery Pyramid and join a high-tech submarine voyage filled with extraordinary sea life and breathtaking destinations. Created in partnership with Super 78, this immersive experience invites guests to become part of the crew led by Deep, a robotically-enhanced pufferfish, alongside helper robots Echo and Torque.
Along the way, guests help operate the ship, choose its course, and interact with marine creatures as The Nautilus travels to coral reefs, Antarctic ice caves, an ancient lost city, undersea volcanoes, and more, brought to life with stunning 3D visuals and thrilling 4D sensory effects.
