Exploring the deep ocean brings incredible discoveries, but it also places extreme physical demands on the human body. The Moody Gardens Ocean Health & Dive Medicine Program is dedicated to understanding and overcoming the unique challenges of underwater environments. By combining specialized medical knowledge with active diving practices, we ensure that undersea exploration remains safe and sustainable. Our program serves as a critical bridge between advanced medical science and the individuals working beneath the surface.

Moody Gardens sets a unique standard in the zoological community by operating our own on-site hyperbaric chamber program. This advanced clinical infrastructure is incredibly rare for an AZA-accredited facility. Having this specialized chamber allows our team to conduct critical hyperbaric research, test new equipment, and support real-time dive safety protocols. By keeping this advanced medical technology right on-site, we provide a level of immediate safety and scientific capability that sets our program apart nationwide.

Whether supporting commercial divers, scientific researchers, or emergency first responders, proper training makes all the difference. Our program is committed to expanding access to critical dive safety resources, equipment trials, and logistical data. We provide the essential tools and specialized education necessary to handle complex underwater operations safely. By preparing dive teams for every potential challenge, we protect the human element behind vital marine conservation and rescue operations.

Looking ahead, we are actively expanding our capabilities to serve as a premier regional asset for any organization operating in high-risk marine environments. Over the next one to two years, our program is working to fully launch a Mobile Marine Hyperbaric Unit to deliver rapid-response dive emergency care directly to the field. This on-call medical standby service will support commercial operators, research institutions, and public safety dive teams during critical underwater projects. By bridging the gap between elite medical infrastructure and field operations, we are building a safer future for everyone who works beneath the surface.
Our oceans and the people who explore them depend on the choices we make today. The Moody Gardens Ocean Health & Dive Medicine Program thrives on the passion, expertise, and dedication of people just like you. Whether your interest lies in marine conservation, hyperbaric medicine, local volunteer opportunities, or scientific research, there is a distinct place for you in this growing community.
