Galveston is the place where Juneteenth was born, and the story of liberation still resonates across the island today. This Juneteenth, Moody Gardens invites you to experience that history on one of the largest screens in Texas.
To honor this special national holiday, the MG 3D Theater will present "Juneteenth: The Galveston Story," a powerful documentary that traces the events surrounding the end of the Civil War, the arrival of General Order No. 3, and the reasons Galveston is recognized as the Birthplace of Juneteenth. The film explores how the island shaped the Southern economy, how it changed in the decades that followed, and why keeping this history alive matters for every generation.
