Galveston is the place where Juneteenth was born, and the story of liberation still resonates across the island today. To honor the holiday, the MG3D Theater presents Juneteenth: The Galveston Story on one of the largest screens in Texas.
The documentary traces the end of the Civil War, the arrival of General Order No. 3 and the reasons Galveston is recognized as the Birthplace of Juneteenth. It explores how the island shaped the Southern economy, how it changed in the decades that followed, and why keeping this history alive matters for every generation.
