Moody Gardens Unveils Halloween Cult Classic Weekend

GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 21, 2026) - Moody Gardens is turning up the Halloween fun this year with a full day of cult-classic movies, costumes, contests and spooky entertainment on Saturday, Oct. 31. From a family-friendly afternoon showing of Hocus Pocus to a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show for adults, guests can experience two Halloween favorites on the largest screen in Texas - all in one unforgettable day.

Both films will be presented in 2D inside the MG3D Theater, so no 3D glasses are required.

Saturday, Oct. 31 - Hocus Pocus

Families can kick off Halloween with the beloved Disney classic Hocus Pocus at the MG3D Theater. The campy Halloween favorite will screen at 12 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., giving families two opportunities to catch the Sanderson sisters on the big screen.

A costume contest at 2 p.m. will add to the Halloween fun, and guests are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costumes.

Hocus Pocus tickets are $15, with Moody Gardens Members receiving tickets for $5. The film is also included with the Mummy & Me Day Value Pass. Hocus Pocus is not included with the regular Value Pass or Membership admission.

Guests looking for even more family fun can also enjoy Happy Family 4D, a family-friendly short playing throughout the day in the 4D Special FX Theater. The attraction is included with the Mummy & Me Day Value Pass, daily Value Pass or a standard 4D Special FX Theater ticket.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Midnight Screening

As Halloween night rolls on, Moody Gardens shifts gears for an adults-only screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight.

The evening begins at 9:30 p.m. with DJ entertainment and pre-party check-in at the Visitor Center, followed by trivia, a live show and Rocky Horror dance time at 10 p.m. A costume contest at 10:30 p.m. will give guests another chance to show off their Halloween spirit before the movie takes over the giant screen.

Premium ticket holders receive early theater access at 11 p.m. and a prop-filled goodie bag. General theater access begins at 11:50 p.m., with the movie starting at midnight.

Cocktails and food will be available for purchase at concessions.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is rated R and is for guests ages 18 and older.

• $35 at the door (No early theater access)
• $15 prop bags available at the door

Guests with Premium tickets will receive props for use during the screening. Outside props are not permitted.

Families can make the most of Halloween with the Mummy & Me Day Value Pass, which includes unlimited access to Moody Gardens attractions and Halloween exclusives.

The pass is $45 for one parent and one child ages 4–12. Each additional child is $45.
