‘Penguins: A Love Story’ 3D Waddles Into Moody Gardens March 7

GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 22, 2025) — Penguins may be famous for life in Antarctica, but in Penguins: A Love Story, audiences will discover these charming birds thriving in some surprising places-including the beaches of Africa and the coastlines of Australia. Premiering March 7 in the Moody Gardens MG 3D Theater, this heartwarming documentary introduces viewers to two extraordinary penguin families and the unexpected heroes helping them survive.

From the bustling colony of African (Jackass) penguins at Boulder Beach, South Africa, to the world’s smallest and cutest penguins living “down under” in Australia, the film follows one penguin chick from each population on their lifelong journeys from hatchling to adulthood. Along the way, audiences will watch them waddle, hop, and belly-flop their way through challenges, find love, and form families of their own-with help from devoted human conservationists and even a few four-legged friends.

Beyond entertainment, the film offers meaningful connections to science education. Its biology, geology, and environmental themes provide rich opportunities to engage students and families in learning about penguin habitats, conservation, and the importance of protecting our shared planet.

Penguins: A Love Story is complemented by a K–6 educator’s guide, designed to extend learning beyond the screen. The guide includes five classroom lessons and three bonus at-home activities for families, all aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and focused on experiential, hands-on learning.

The film runs March 7 through May 22, 2026, and can be watched during a day of exploration at Moody Gardens, where guests can also experience the Aquarium Pyramid, Rainforest Pyramid, Discovery Pyramid, and more.
